Lifetime has unveiled a snippet trailer of the forthcoming biopic ‘Aaliyah — The Princess of R&B’.

The movie was first expected to debut sometime next year, but for whatever reason the production was pushed forward and fans will now be pleased to hear that Lifetime plans to air it on November 15th.

Despite the negativity behind the project due to gossiping queen Wendy Williams’ name being attached to the biopic, Alexandra Shipp — who plays Aaliyah — is literally the spitting image of the late songstress.

As you already know, Aaliyah died in a plane crash back in 2001 as she returned home from her ‘Rock the Boat’ music video shoot in the Bahamas.

Wendy, who is an executive producer for the film, has confirmed that there’ll be no scenes of the tragic accident that caused the loss of Aaliyah’s life.

Instead, she’s decided to make the TV movie as juicy as possible by focusing on the relationship between the singer and R. Kelly (when she was still underage), her close bond with famous pals such as Timbaland and Missy Elliott, while also focusing on how Aaliyah even became the star that she was at such a young age.

It’s going to be controversial, but being an Aaliyah fan myself, I’m stoked to see what Wendy and the production team managed to come up with.
