Halle Berry will not be featured in the forthcoming X-Men: Apocalypse movie.
Simon Kinberg, who is writing the script for the follow-up to this year’s ‘Days of Future Past,’ reveals that the storyline dates back to 1983, before many X-men stars had even discovered their talents.
Simon reveals that ‘Apocalypse’ won’t hit theaters until 2016 but the script is already set to be in the works.
From this point, Kinberg is certain that some of the most beloved characters will not be in the movie — including Jean and Scott.
“If we included some of the original X-Men, like Storm, Jean, Scott, and others, yeah we would have to recast them, because Apocalypse takes place a good twenty years before “X1,” which now insanely was fifteen years ago,” he revealed in a recent interview.
“It would be very hard to do…Halle, Famke, and Jimmy, and others have done such wonderful jobs of bringing those characters to life and they’re so identified, those actors, with the parts now.”
“So it would be a tall task… So, are we going to have to recast? If some of those characters were in the movie we would.”
It’s very unfortunate seeing that Famke Janssen (Jean) has not reprised her role fully since 2006, and we’re not talking about small cameos.
And while Halle Berry (Storm) was signed on to star in DOFP, the actress learned that she was pregnant once the film went into production, causing the writers to change the entire script due to the action-filled ideas they had planned for the character.
Maybe it really is time for us to accept that we need a new cast.
While Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Evan Peters have already confirmed their roles in the upcoming movie, it is yet to be determined whether characters such as Storm and Jean will still make the cut.
… and if they should, get ready for a cast shake-up of new faces.
