At the New Yorker Festival party in Trump SoHo New York hotspot known as ‘The Boom Boom Room,’ Mindy Kaling from ‘The Mindy Project’ show was mistaken for Nobel Prize Winner, Malala Yousafzai. Well, at least she was mistaken with a Nobel Prize winner, right? Not to mention, Mindy’s reaction to the situation was hilarious.
According to New York Times, Mindy Kaling was at the famous boom boom hotspot when an elderly man, a bit intoxicated, walked up to her and congratulated her on her Nobel Prize and healing from the wound from Taliban gunfire. “Congratulations on your Nobel Prize,” the man in his 80’s had told the actress before stumbling away to enjoy the party again.
Shocked and a bit amused, Kaling had turned to one of the guests at the party that had just witnessed the scene and spoke about it.
“Did he really think I’m Malala?” And that if I were, I’d be at the Boom Boom Room?” Mindy Kaling commented to the guest she was speaking to about the funny incident. More amused than uncomfortable about the situation, Kaling kept adding small bits of commentary to the situation: “That’s the best thing that’s happened all night.”
You don’t know who Malala Yousafzai is? Well, everyone soon will. Yousafzai is a Pakistani student activist who survived a Taliban assassination attempt at age 14, won the Nobel Prize early October and Director Davis Guggenheim is currently hard at work on a documentary about her life.
