British actress Helena Bonham Carter and movie director Tim Burton have parted ways, ending their partnership of 13 years.
A spokesperson of the actress said that the couple had decided to separate on a mutual understanding earlier this year.
However, Bonham Carter and Burton will remain friends and will also be co-parenting the two children from their relationship – Billy (11) and Nell (7).
The representative also asked the media and the public to respect the privacy of the couple and their children at this time.
The actress entered into a relationship with Burton after associating with the latter in the 2001 flick Planet of the Apes, directed by Burton.
The collaboration then extended to eight movies until 2014; Big Fish (2001), Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004), Corpse Bride (2005), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), Alice in Wonderland (2010), Dark Shadows (2012).
The duo will also be associating for the upcoming sequel movie Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass, which upon its release in 2016 would become the first movie after their breakup.
The couple has been living in a separate, conjoined house in Belsize Park, north London.
Earlier this year, rumors claimed the director to have cheated on Bonham Carter, with pictures of Burton with a blonde woman snapped at Hampstead, North London, floating around in the media.
This was later dismissed by the spokesperson for Bonham Carter and said the picture holds nothing more than a goodbye peck.
