Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez has reflected on the experience she had at this year’s Miss Universe pageant. On Tuesday, the owner of the runner-up title took to popular social networking platform Instagram for expressing thanks to all her followers and supporters who stood by her when she was crowned as the winner of the pageant mistakenly.
The 21 year old Colombian beauty wrote that a storm is always followed by a period of calm and added that she wants to say a big thank you to every single individual who have sent notes of strength and support to her during this period.
Gutierrez, a fashion model and a popular Colombian TV host, will celebrate her birthday on the Christmas Day. After the Miss Universe fallout on December 20, she posted a couple of lengthy and of course touchy messages on social media, in her native language Spanish and English. The posts were accompanied by photos from the event.
Gutierrez wrote that in her book every single person getting in touch with her with positive notes of strength and support has become an amazing human being. She added that after receiving so much support not only from her own country, but from around the globe, she feels like being the most thankful and fortunate person.
On Sunday, Dec 20 this year’s Miss Universe Host Steve Harvey, a well known face from the American entertainment industry, accidentally took the name of Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner of the pageant. However, within a few minutes he corrected his mistake and announced that the actual winner is Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, Miss Philippines.
“After the storm comes the calm. I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world. Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this. I was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes… Today because of that COLOMBIA and the LATIN COMMUNITY are being talked about in every corner of the world. I also want to congratulate the Philippines for their new Miss Universe ??. The happiness that you must be feeling must be incredible. Life continues and in the future we will find out why things happen the way they happen. Thank you all for your LOVE”
Gutierrez said that the destiny of an individual is always prewritten and her destiny was brining happiness to her country by becoming the Miss Universe 2015 for just two minutes. She added that because of this incident the entire world is right now talking about the Latin Community and Colombia.
It’s true that Miss Colombia didn’t get to keep the much coveted Miss Universe crown with her, but that didn’t stop her from wishing the actual winner Wurtzbach well. She also congratulated the Philippines, the country Wurtzbach belongs to, and said that the country must be feeling incredible happiness at this moment.
Gutierrez showcased her philosophical side when she wrote that life continues and she feels that the future will explain “why things happen the way they Happen”.
Sunday’s incident doesn’t seem to have any serious impact in Gutierrez’s personal life and she is currently vacationing in Miami with her family.
