Late Monday afternoon, a wildfire broke out at San Luis Obispo, located between Los Angeles and San Francisco, CA. Around 1,600 acres of land was scorched and residents were forced to evacuate the area. One of the resident is The Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki.
Fortunately, at the time of the fire, Galecki was not within the property itself. However, the fire burned down his ranch home and another property on the estate.
According to CNN, gusts of wind has been fuelling the massive fire forcing fire fighters and the local sheriff’s office to close down roads leading to it.
Galecki release a statement to TMZ, who first reported the news. According to the actor, “my heart goes out to all in the area who are also experiencing loss from this vicious fire, the threat of which we live with constantly, which may seem crazy to some but we do so because living in our beautiful, rural area makes it worthwhile.”
“It’s never the structures that create a community — it’s the people. And if the people of Santa Margarita have taught me anything it’s that, once the smoke has cleared, literally and figuratively, it’s a time to reach out and rebuild,” says Galecki.
Finally, Galecki closed with, “we’ve done it before, and will need to do it together again, and it will make our community even closer and stronger. Endless thanks to CalFire and the Sheriff’s Office. I know you guys are fighting the good fight to keep us safe. So very relieved no one has been hurt.”
According to the California Fire and the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff, the fire was 60 percent contained by Tuesday. Some residents were allowed to return to their homes, including Galecki himself. So far, there are no reports of anyone getting harmed in the said fire.
