Good news, Potterheads! The sequel of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has finally commenced principal photography in the UK. To celebrate the occasion, Warner Brothers revealed new details about the movie’s storyline and some exciting cast additions.

As previously announced, the second installment, set in the wizarding world 70 years before the events of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, sees the return of Eddie Redmayne as magical beasts lover Newt Scamander and Johnny Depp as the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. Jude Law has been tapped to play the younger version of Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore which was originally played by the late Richard Harris and Michael Gambon in the Harry Potter films.

Apart from the three, Katherine Waterson and Alison Sudol as witch sisters Tina and Queen will also be returning in Fantastic Beasts 2, as well as Dan Fogler as Jacob, a Muggle whose memory was wiped at the end of the first film—so fans will see how he finds himself in the wizarding world once more.

Who’s New?

Per Deadline, the new major cast members and characters include Claudia Kim (The Dark Tower, Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Marco Polo) who will take on the role of a young woman first encountered as a featured attraction at a wizarding circus; William Nadylam as a wizard named Yusuf Kama; Ingvar Sigurdsson (Baltasar Kormakur’s The Oath) as bounty hunter Grimmson; Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (The Missing) as Skender, who runs the wizarding circus; and Kevin Guthrie as Abernathy, the boss of MACUSA (Magical Congress of the USA). Callum Turner also boarded the cast as Theseus Scamander, a war hero and Auror, who is also Newt’s older brother.

The Plot

Fantastic Beasts 2 — again written by J.K. Rowling  — opens in 1927, just a few months after Scamander helped to unveil and capture the infamous Grindelwald. However, Depp’s character won’t be in captivity for long. New details reveal he’ll escape, forcing Dumbledore to get involved in the efforts for his recapture who will then ask his former pupil Scamander for help.

Fantastic Beasts 2

Scamander, in turn, will seek assistance from the returning Queenie and Tina Goldstein as well as his no-maj friend Jacob Kowalski.

Directed by David Yates, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them 2 is slated to open in cinemas on November 16, 2018.
