Spider-Man Homecoming’s F-Bomb Ending Scene Was Hard To Pull Off, Says Marisa Tomei

Spider-Man: Homecoming is easily one of the most loved origin films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The second reboot in the last five years and the third reboot when counting Sam Raimi’s trilogy, Homecoming showcases Peter Parker’s struggles to be part of the Avengers team and his life as a teen. It’s a new take for the film franchise and perhaps another fun twist in the recent movie is seen in the closing scene featuring Aunt May as portrayed by Marissa Tomei.

In the last scene, Aunt May discovers the true identity of Spider-Man. That’s not all though. Before cutting to the credits, Tomei had to say “What the fu-.” It wasn’t the full F-bomb though as the movie abruptly cuts to the credits before Tomei was able to complete the word. In an interview with the Huffiington Post, Tomei reveals that this scene was rather hard to pull off.

When it comes to shooting the scene, Tomei comments that “I think I said the whole word, and then they had to fine tune and fine tune.” Basically, the editors had to work a bit harder than usual to make sure that Tomei’s F-word doesn’t fully make it into the film. The hard work paid off though as the scene was fun and all.

The portrayal of Aunt May in Spider-Man: Homecoming is rather special in a couple of ways. The most obvious being the fact that it’s the first time in the movies that Aunt May was portrayed as a younger woman rather than an elderly one. As seen in the closing scene, we also see that Aunt May was instantly informed of Peter Parker’s hidden identity as Spider-Man.

Even in the comics, Aunt May was often kept in the dark about the identity of Spider-Man. This is going to be an interesting take on the web-slinger’s story as we can see how Aunt May’s newfound knowledge will affect the secret life of Peter Parker.

Ben Affleck’s The Batman Script Scrapped

new Batman movie
Ben Affleck opens up on new Batman movie

After 2016’s Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice and the upcoming Justice League film, the next step for the DC Cinematic Universe’s Batman is to star in his standalone movie. Ben Affleck, who plays the current Bruce Wayne, has a bigger role in the franchise as he’s also one of the guys previously working on the movie itself. However, Affleck’s Batman script may not fit the direction of the new director.

Director Matt Reeves’ latest outing is War for the Planet of the Apes. While promoting the film in a recent interview during the MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, he revealed that work on the next Batman film is starting from scratch. He adds that he will not be using the script made by Affleck.

“No, it’s a new story. It’s just starting again. I’m excited about it. I think it’s going to be really cool,” the director says.

Director Reeves shouldered the responsibilities of directing the DC Batman films when current Batman actor Ben Affleck stepped down from his duties. Affleck will still reprise his role as Bruce Wayne in the future Batman films at least. For now, we’re still uncertain of how the next Batman film will play out.

Affleck’s script had Deathstroke as the main villain; Joe Manganiello was tasked with the role. For now, it remains uncertain whether Reeves will also scrap the idea of Deathstroke as a villain in the forthcoming Batman film.

During a talk with New Trailer Buzz, Reeves notes that he wants a Noir take on the Caped Crusader and the director could’ve scrapped Affleck’s script because of his vision. The Noir-theme sounds rather fitting for the Caped Crusader so it’s going to be exciting to see how Reeves executes the film. Reeves has a high bar set for him as Christopher Nolan’s trilogy was well-loved by fans.

Shia LaBeouf Arrest Video Surfaces

Shia LaBeouf
Source: Man Down (2016 Movie) – Official Trailer video

Shia LaBeouf, a known actor for films such as Disturbia and Transformers, was recently arrested in Savannah, Georgia. LaBeouf spouted racial slurs and cursed the police during his arrest and while inside the precinct.

“You’re going to hell, straight to hell, bro.” said LaBeouf to a black police officer. The actor kept on mentioning their skin color and cited racism as the reason for his arrest.

In a report by TMZ, LaBeouf’s arrest video showed him being disrespectful against authority while he was in police custody. As seen in the video, the actor rudely explained that he was arrested for asking cigarettes from the police. However, the police report said that he was using offensive language in front of children and being disorderly, according to The Guardian. LaBeouf was also drunk when he was arrested.

After he was arrested, the actor has posted a public apology on his Twitter account. He also notes that he’s been going through addiction at the moment:

“I am deeply ashamed of my behavior, and make no excuses for it. I don’t know if these statements are too frequent, or not shared often enough, but I am certain that my actions warrant a very sincere apology to the arresting officers, and I am grateful for their restraint. The severity of my behavior is not lost on me.

My outright disrespect for authority  is problematic to say the  least, and completely destructive to say the worst, It  is a new low. A low I hope is a bottom. I have been struggling with addiction publicly for far too long, and I am actively taking steps toward securing my sobriety and hope I can be forgiven for my mistakes.”

Previously LaBeouf has been arrested during his art project exhibit against Donald Trump last January. As for his upcoming movies, he’s set to play John McEnroe in the Borg/McEnroe movie that’ll be released in Fall 2017.

Chaos Walking Movie Featuring Tom Holland, Daisy Ridley Lands 2019

Spider-Man Homecoming star Tom Holland and Star Wars The Force Awakens lead actress Daisy Ridley are confirmed for the upcoming Chaos Walking movie. This movie will be a young adult science fiction flick that tells the story of the last woman on Earth.

HollywoodReporter confirmed that the post-apocalyptic thriller featuring Holland and Ridley will be directed by Doug Liman. This Lionsgate movie will be released on March 1, 2019. This upcoming movie is based from Patrick Ness’ Chaos Walking trilogy.

Chaos Walking’s story is set in a post-apocalyptic world where all women have supposedly been wiped out by a germ. Holland takes the role of boy who is forced to escape his hometown. However, the boy meets a girl (Ridley) despite previous beliefs that they have been wiped out. More than just meeting an extinct creature in their world, the Chaos Walking world will also feature political drama between its factions in the story.

The plot of Holland and Ridley’s movie seems to follow the story of the first book of the Chaos Walking trilogy. Like most novel adaptations, it’s still unknown if the film will remain faithful to the source material.

Both Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley have been Hollywood darlings after their roles in major movie series. Holland starred as the young Peter Parker of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Spider-Man Homecoming movie. Meanwhile, Daisy Ridley was Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie. Even though Ridley starred as a new character in Star Wars, she’s the apprentice of the long-time series protagonist, Luke Skywalker. So far, both actors have starred in a fictional world setting which could improve their Chaos Walking roles better.

For now, fans hoping to see this movie will still have to wait until early next year to see these two together on-screen.

Marvel’s New Warriors TV Show Cast List Announced

new warriors
Image from Marvel Comics

The upcoming New Warriors TV show from Freeform finally has it’s cast, and they should be very familiar to fans of various tv shows. Milana Vayntrub, from This is Us, has landed the role as Squirrel Girl, one of the rising stars from Marvel Comics whose popularity has gone up in recent years. Derek Theler, one of the leads of a now cancelled Freeform tv show Baby Daddy, will be Mister Immortal.

Of course, the two actors won’t be alone in the superhero group, since they will be joined by Jeremy Tardy as Night Thrasher, Calum Worthy as Speedball, Matthew Moy as Microbe and Kate Comer as Debrii. Fans familiar with the comic books know that the New Warriors aren’t a two-person group, and that Speedball was one of the founding members, so this is a fairly interesting group of heroes to choose.

“I am thrilled beyond belief to be working with this incredible group of actors. They are funny, sincere, eager, charming and perfectly embody these characters. It’ll be a blast and an honor to create this show with each of them,” said the show’s executive producer Kevin Biegel.

Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the first season would run for 10 episodes and would showcase how “bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates.” Like other superhero-themed television shows before it, New Warriors will focus on the six individuals coming to terms with their powers and how to use them. It is set to be lighter than previous live-action Marvel TV shows, especially the dark Netflix programs like Daredevil or Jessica Jones.

“At Freeform, we are committed to finding distinct and entertaining characters that our audience can enjoy and relate to,” said Elizabeth Boykewich, senior vp casting and talent at Freeform. “We are excited to be working with Marvel Television to bring these fiercely average superheroes to life and watch them take on the world.”

Luke Cage Season 2 Premiere Will Be Directed By Lucy Liu

Luke Cage Season 2
Source: Marvel's Luke Cage | Official Trailer [HD] | Netflix video

Emmy-nominated actress Lucy Liu has been selected to direct the upcoming premiere of Luke Cage Season 2. The show’s producers are also stoked to see Liu’s work for the series once it gets released.

According to Deadline, Lucy Liu is honored to work with the Luke Cage team to make its first episode. “What a thrill to collaborate with Marvel and Netflix, two industry titans, who paint our world with inspiring stories and beguiling characters, It is such an honor to work with such a passionate and fearless team,” said Liu.

Series executive producer Jeph Loeb said that Liu is a good fit for making Luke Cage’s Season 2 premiere. “Lucy brings a keen eye, a superb sense of story, and an obvious love of actors. She is rocking Luke Cage 2.”

Previously, Liu has shown her directorial work in her movie, Meena, and four episodes of CBS’ television series, Elementary. Meena is a movie that features human trafficking while Elementary provides a modern-day spin to the Sherlock Holmes’s characters.

So far, the Luke Cage story features the titular character’s vigilante justice against criminal underworld figures in his city. Cage has just finished up his fight against Diamondback as of the first season. Potentially, the Season 2 premiere will lay down the setting of Luke Cage’s next target or mission to keep criminals from taking over his city.

As of now, the Marvel-Netflix series isn’t looking so hot after Iron Fist ended. Many fans didn’t like Danny Rand’s story and even branded Iron Fist as one of the worst Marvel shows so far. Luke Cage 2 could potentially help the Marvel series recover from the bad taste it left in the fan’s mouths. However, the next Marvel Netflix show will be “The Defenders” (August 2017), which is the Avengers version of the Netflix Marvel characters. Both The Defenders and Luke Cage Season 2 2 have a good chance to make the Marvel internet shows good again.

Westworld Season 2 Reveals First New Cast Member, Cryptic Teaser Ahead of SDCC 2017

Westworld season 2

The last time we were on Westworld, all hell broke loose. Robotic hosts have taken over the futuristic amusement park which served as the setting for the HBO drama, murdering most of the guests on the premises. But it looks like more people will get caught up in the chaos that was beginning to play out during the first season’s explosive finale and one of them will be Katja Herbers’ character.

Deadline reports The Leftovers star has booked a role for the new season. She’s the very third one to be cast as a series regular and the newest cast member after Season 1 recurring stars Talulah Riley and Louis Herthum were promoted. The actress will portray Grace, “a seasoned guest in Westworld whose latest visit comes at the park’s darkest hour,” according to the trade publication.

Beyond that, there isn’t much known about her character. But Inverse predicts she might fill the shoes of the intimidating Man in Black, played by Ed Harris, who presumably died during the Hosts’ killing spree.

Westworld Season 2 won’t be picking up immediately where we left off, but showrunners Jonah Nolan and Lisa Joy revealed previously that we’re “definitely going to see the aftermath and the effects of what happened” in the season finale.

‘Celebrations Continue’

Season two plot details are sparse, but an update to the show’s website suggests Westworld might have lost connection to the real world and various guests and board members are trapped inside the park with a bunch of anarchist robots. This comes via a looping video from the show’s website that seems to display someone trying to contact the “outside world” for help.

“Is anybody out there?” the “unknown user” asks into the digital void. “Something’s gone wrong. We need help.” Then, there’s a system override and a “registered” user insists that “all is well” and “celebrations continue.”

westworld season 2

The identities of the unknown and registered user are all guess work right now. But we might learn more during Westworld’s Q&A at the San Diego Comic-Con on July 22. If not, it could be a while. Westworld Season 2 still does not have a release date yet.

Live-Action Aladdin Movie Can’t Find Its Male Lead – Here Are The Frontrunners So Far

live-action aladdin movie

Disney has been enjoying a ridiculous amount of success with their recent live-action adaptations of animated classics. Right now, it is working for a live-action Aladdin movie but they’re facing a whole new world of trouble: it still hasn’t locked down an actor for the male lead.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that the studio is currently searching far and wide for their new Aladdin. Disney, director Guy Ritchie and casting director Randi Hiller brought on casting directors around the globe —from London to Egypt to Abu Dhabi and India— screening over 2000 actors who have auditioned for the roles. However, they didn’t find the right one just yet.

The Mouse House confirmed earlier this year that it’s committed to casting Middle Eastern or Indian descent in the key roles of Aladdin and Jasmine. The original casting call indicated that production was supposed to begin by July, but the search for a male lead in his 20s who can also act and sing has dragged on.

Live-action Aladdin Movie Cast

Will Smith is already on board to play the genie which was voiced by Robin Williams in the original animated version and sources said Disney is strongly considering Power Rangers actress Naomi Scott or Indian actress Tara Sutaria for Jasmine. But they can’t finalize the deal without an Aladdin to chemistry-test her against.

The studio has apparently set their sights in Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) and Riz Ahmed (Rogue One) for the titular role but is likely to cast a new face. Heroic Hollywood reports among those who are on the short list are Achraf Koutet, American George Kosturos, and Mena Massoud.

Previous reports claimed Tom Hardy was being eyed to play the movie’s big bad, Jafar. The trade states that producers want to go with a big name for the antagonist role, but it remains to be seen whether the studio will cast a Middle-Eastern actor.

The live-action Aladdin movie has been rescheduled to begin shooting in August for a yet-to-be-announced premiere date.

Outlander Season 3 Officially Returning on Starz This September

outlander season 3

Droughtlander finally has an official end date and it’s closer than you think. Starz confirmed Tuesday that the highly-anticipated Outlander Season 3 will premiere Sunday, September 10.

To commemorate the big announcement, the network also released a poster depicting the literal divide between Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) as they press against the sides of the standing stone at Craigh na Dun that once brought them together.

The Season 2 tore apart our favorite couple, who are now living in different centuries after Claire traveled through the stones again. Over the span of 13 episodes, the third season will explore how her reappearance in 1948 affects her relationship with her first husband, Frank, as well as how her pregnancy with Jamie’s child fits into all this. Meanwhile, In 1746, Jamie picks up the pieces after the doomed Battle of Culloden.

We will get to see the characters’ separate lives and their struggle to overcome the barriers of time and find their way back to each other, all based on the third book in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander book series, Voyager.

Apart from Heughan and Balfe, Outlander Season 3 will also star Gary Young, Tobias Menzies, Charlie Hiett, David Berry, César Domboy, Lauren Lyle, John Bell, Wil Johnson, Hannah James, and Tanya Reynolds.

Outlander Season 3 at SDCC 2017

The cast along with EPs Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis and author, Diana is expected to appear at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC 2017) later this month, with their panel taking place 5 pm on Friday, July 21 in Ballroom 20. To help shepherd the discussion about iOutlander season 3, Starz recruited World of Dance’s Jenna Dewan-Tatum, a professed super-fan of the time-traveling series, to serve as the moderator.

There will be an autograph signing session with the cast in its booth, No. 4029, on July 22 and fans who will visit the Starz booth on Thursday and Friday can enter a raffle for a chance to win a spot at the Saturday signing.

Wonder Woman 2 Cold War-Bound, Revives A Love Interest [Rumor]

Wonder Woman 2
Source: WONDER WOMAN – Rise of the Warrior [Official Final Trailer] video

A rumor of a Wonder Woman sequel has been circulating the internet. Wonder Woman 2 is supposedly set during the Cold War and will prime the return of her love interest, Steve Trevor.

ScreenRant reports that Wonder Woman 2 will be a spy thriller movie set in the Cold War. However, ScreenRant didn’t name their sources for this reveal. Fans should take this rumor with a grain of salt.

Historically, the Cold War was a conflict of political intrigue more than open warfare between leading nations. These leading nations backed certain sides in conflicts around the world to push their goals. One of the most notable events in this battle was the Space Race where Russia and America competed to send a man in outer space first.

ScreenRant has mentioned that the next Wonder Woman movie will be set in the 80s in which it’s already the latter part of the Cold War. Diana will apparently take part in the battles that’ll collapse the Soviet Union.

This setting is understandable as Wonder Woman’s leading man, Steve Trevor, is a spy by profession. The spy thriller setting can help expound on his backstory through the world of espionage.

Speaking of Trevor, he’s also reported to return as an ally of Wonder Woman. In the first film, Trevor’s fate is left unknown after he sacrificed himself to blow up a German plane full of bombs. ScreenRant suggests that Wonder Woman 2 will let him survive this sacrifice, or make him return as Trevor’s descendant.

For now, Wonder Woman 2 is not even announced to be in development. Even though this sequel is set in the past before Justice League, Wonder Woman’s spot is already assured in the DC crossover movie. This means the sequel, just like the first film, could simply fill backstory details for Wonder Woman instead of progressing the DCEU’s present-day timeline.

James Bond 25: Daniel Craig Is 007 Again, Christopher Nolan Talks Possible Involvement

james bond 25

The next James Bond film wouldn’t introduce a new 007 after all. Daniel Craig, who portrayed the iconic agent in the last four films, has reportedly agreed to take on the role again, reaching a deal with producer Barbara Broccoli.

News of his return came as a shocker to many, especially since he declared previously that he would rather “slash his wrists” than do another Bond movie after 2015’s Spectre. This has generated casting rumors, linking a host of British actors to the role including Idris Elba (The Dark Tower), who in a hacked Sony email was said to be a top choice. Mad Max’s Tom Hardy has also been rumored to be on the shortlist alongside Tom Hiddleston, Damian Lewis, Aiden Turner, and James Norton.

Citing an unidentified source, The Mirror reports Craig’s decision to board the next installment has the support of his wife, Rachel Weisz. James Bond 25 targets to commence filming next year for a 2019 release.

james bond 25

There’s no director attached to the installment yet, but it has often been rumored that Christopher Nolan of The Dark Knight would be at the helm this time. The widely acclaimed director has recently come out to say that he is indeed interested to direct a Bond movie, but it would only be if the franchise were in need of a major reset.

In an interview with Playboy magazine, he said he would ‘definitely’ do it. “I’ve spoken to the producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson over the years. I deeply love the character, and I’m always excited to see what they do with it. Maybe one day that would work out,” he explained. But he says he would have to be needed. “It has to need reinvention; it has to need you. And they’re getting along very well.”

Unfortunately, that’s something the franchise doesn’t need at this point. As the director pointed out, it is in pretty good shape as it currently stands. Sure, it somehow made a bit of a misstep with Spectre, but fans have, so far, embraced the new, grittier version of James Bond that Craig brought to the series.

What’s currently known is that Spectre’s Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are back to write James Bond 25. The director and the actor have yet to be confirmed.

Captain Marvel Movie: Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury Confirmed As Cast

Captain Marvel Nick Fury Samuel Jackson

The man who started it all is coming back. After a week of speculations, it has been confirmed that Samuel L. Jackson is reprising his role as Nick Fury in Marvel’s first female-led superhero movie, Captain Marvel.

Jackson’s role was the one who originally introduced fans to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe way back in 2008 when he appeared on Iron Man. Since then, he has been the key connective tissue for the various superhero titles. However, his role has been diminished a bit, not making any appearance since Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015.

Over the weekend, there was some solid gossip that the actor will star in Brie Larson’s film. At that time, it couldn’t be verified but now we finally have a confirmation, courtesy of DeadlineThe publication just reported that they’ve heard “it’s true that Jackson will be making an appearance in the movie.”

Nick Fury’s Role

Since plot details for Captain Marvel are being kept under wraps for the time being, it’s difficult to determine how large Fury’s part is. What’s certain is only that Jackson will be there in some capacity and that he film will be an origin story for its namesake. Screenrant suggests perhaps Fury’s role is to help Carol Danvers make the transition from “normal” person to an individual with superpowers.

Captain Marvel Nick Fury

Whatever the case is, it’s exciting to know that Fury’s making an appearance. This would reunite Jackson and Larson after starring in Kong: Skull Island earlier this year. They also worked together in the actress’ directorial debut, Unicorn Store, which has yet to debut in theaters.

Currently, Marvel has not commented on the development yet, but there should be official word on the matter soon. The studio has a Hall H panel at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC 2017). Hopefully, there will be some new details unveiled there.

Captain Marvel is scheduled for release on March 8, 2019.

Spider-Man Homecoming: Exclusive PS4 Footage Features Tom Holland, Robert Downey JR And Jon Favreau

spider-man homecoming

Spider-Man Homecoming will be in theaters this week, getting many Marvel fans excited for the wall crawler’s MCU debut. While fans wait for the film to come out,Sony has released exclusive footage for PS4 fans, featuring most of the film’s notable stars. Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr and Jon Favreau all make appearances, so it’s worth checking out for fans excited about the movie.

Fans hoping to remain spoiler free might want to avoid it until the movie comes out, though they can always check it out after watching the film. As announced on the PlayStation Blog earlier this week, the four-minute clip was made available on the PlayStation Store. That being said, those that don’t mind the spoilers can also check it out right away, since the brief footage only shows Peter Parker fooling around.

Admittedly, Sony may have spoiled the movie too much with their trailers, since a number of them had new scenes in them. This was one of the main reasons why Amazing Spider-Man 2 was criticized, since Sony released too many trailers that essentially spoiled the plot, minus the death of Gwen Stacy. While one could argue that Sony did the same for Spider-Man Homecoming, but the film itself seems to be pretty good, so the trailers might not have diminished excitement.

There’s also a special VR experience of Spider-Man Homecoming that can only be accessed through PS VR, though it’s more of a gimmick than anything else. It might be worthwhile for fans of Spider-Man, but everyone else can just wait for Marvel’s Spider-Man from Insomniac Games.

Spider-Man Homecoming will come to theaters on July 7 and stars Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr, Michael Keaton, Jon favreau and much more. Reviews for the film have been fairly positive, so fans shouldn’t worry much when watching it.

The Story Behind Baby Driver’s Monsters Inc Reference Is Pretty Cool

Image from IMDB

Baby Driver is one of the most acclaimed movies of 2017, and is another great feather in the already excellent cap of Edgar Wright. One of the more interesting parts of the movie was the reference to Monsters Inc, as well as some footage from the classic Pixar movie. This is an R-rated movie after all, so the fact that Disney allowed the footage to be used is considered a miracle to many fans.

The film even quotes Monsters Inc, with Baby saying “You and I are a team. Nothing is more important than our friendship.” Wright’s film is actually full of references to others, though the director finds a way to weave it into the film’s story, instead of making it feel like a cheap joke. This isn’t Family Guy, so each reference actually adds to Baby’s character, so viewers will appreciate that.

So how did Wright manage to get away with the Disney footage, as well as the quote? According to iO9, it was due to his friendship with Pete Doctor, who wrote and directed the original Monsters Inc. Doctor liked the references, and personally asked Disney to let the footage and reference stay, showing how much sway he has with the company.

Wright even told the website that Pete Doctor is a great human being, calling him a “very fine dude.” He even praised Inside Out, which isn’t much of a surprise since it is one of the best animated movies to come out in the past few years. It’s a nice move from both parties and should make the reference more personal now than it originally was.

Baby Driver should be in theaters now, with an all-star cast that includes Jamie Foxx, Kevin Spacey and John Hamm. Wright has gained a huge fanbase from his previous films like Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim. He was supposed to direct Ant-Man, but left due to creative differences, though he was still credited as one of the film’s writers.

The Defenders Is ‘A Summer Popcorn Thing,’ Says Luke Cage Actor

the defenders
Image from Marvel

After Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, Netflix fans might be surprised to hear that The Defenders won’t retain the dark themes from those series’. Instead, it looks like we’re going to get an Avengers-esque romp with plenty of action, which is far from bad to be fair. After the critical panning of Iron Fist, going the smash-em-up popcorn route might not be a bad idea.

Mike Colter, the actor who plays as “Hero for Hire” Luke Cage, has confirmed in the Denver comic-con that the upcoming crossover will be a “Summer mash-up of all four of us.” It will have a “certain lightness” to it, and has been described by Colter as both fun and funny. Furthermore, he said that the show is very much like a “summer popcorn thing,” according to LRM.

With blockbuster superstar Sigourney Weaver as the series’ main villain for the first season, it should make for a fun blockbuster series. Her character seems to be an original one, though she could be a surprise character that’s being cleverly hidden. The trailer did show some fun interactions between all the characters, including Luke Cage and Iron Fist, who are really good friends in the comic books.

Defenders will be the first crossover for the four shows, and it will be interesting to see if there are more seasons down the road. The CW have done similar crossovers before with Flash and Arrow, along with the companion show Legends of Tomorrow.

To prepare for the show, Marvel launched a new comic of The Defenders, featuring the same characters from the upcoming Netflix program. Currently, two issues are available for purchase, with The Punisher set to appear in the third one, which should be fun to see. Fans can check out the highly anticipated show next month, on August 18 in Netflix, so here is hoping that it lives up to the hype.

Daisy Ridley Voices Rey In Star Wars Forces of Destiny

star wars forces of destiny
Image from Disney/YouTube.

Fans excited for The Last Jedi this December are in for a treat, as Disney has released the first episode of Star Wars: Forces of Destiny. It’s an adorable short featuring Rey, the protagonist from 2015’s The Force Awakens and December 2017’s The Last Jedi. Fans of Daisy Ridley will be happy to know that she reprises her role as Rey in the short, which should get Star Wars fans even more pumped.

Ridley impressed both longtime Star Wars fans and newer viewers when she was Rey, so it’s easy to see why Disney would want her to reprise her role in an animated short. This isn’t her first stint in voice acting, since she also lent her voice to the English dub of Studio Ghibli’s film Only Yesterday. It’s clear that Star Wars has made Ridley a household name and her fame should keep rising once the films are done, though Disney claims they will never stop making Star Wars movies.

Despite being a bit overpowered, Rey was a likeable and very relatable character, so it will be interesting to see what she learns from Luke in the film. Star Wars: Forces of Destiny does not spoil the upcoming movie whatsoever, so fans of the franchise or Ridley can check it out without worrying about spoilers. More episodes are set to air, with characters like Princess Lea and Jyn Erso set to star in some of them, with Felicity Jones also reprising her role as Jyn from Rogue One.

The Hollywood Reporter has also confirmed that Lupita Nyong’o, who plays Maz Kanata, is also a part of the nearly three-minute short that helps fill in the details of what happened just after Rey met BB-8. It’s a fun watch for fans of the series and should get them pumped for more Star Wars later this year.

Green Lantern Corps Movie: Former Gambit Director Rumored To Helm DCEU Film

green lantern corps
Image from DC Comics

Some interesting rumors about the Green Lantern Corps film have popped up, including who the possible director of the film will be. It looks like Warner Bros is in talks with the former director of Gambit, Rupert Wyatt, who also worked on the well received Rise of the Planet of the Apes. He would be a solid choice for the film if true, especially when one considers the bad reputation of the previous Green Lantern movie.

New director aside, the film will supposedly center on Hal Jordan and John Stewart, with a tone similar to Lethal Weapon. Screen Rant said it would be a buddy cop film, with the experienced Hal Jordan teaching the younger John Stewart the ways of a Green Lantern, which sounds really intriguing. Warner Bros has yet to comment on the report’s validity, so only time will tell if Lethal Weapon in space will happen in the film.

Talks of a Green Lantern Corps film have been happening for a while, now that Warner Bros has the DCEU to focus on. Green Lantern even appeared in the new DCEU stinger that debuted in the Wonder Woman movie, further increasing talks about a possible movie in the future. Many fans are shocked that he won’t be in Justice League, especially since he played a big role on Justice League: Origin, the comic book it is based on.

Whether we will see Rupert Wyatt in the directorial role remains to be seen, though fans would like to see him give the film a shot. After all, the previous Green Lantern film was so panned, many are hoping the franchise will be redeemed now that it’s in the DCEU. Despite the film’s failure, the Green Lantern comics are still doing well for DC, with two ongoings that are going strong in the Rebirth era.

SDCC 2017 List: All Confirmed No-Shows So Far

sdcc 2017

San Diego Comic-Con is almost upon us and fans are probably already excited to learn the juiciest updates on their favorite titles. Unfortunately, not everyone from the comics, TV, and film industry will be gracing this year’s massive convention.

To keep you updated, here’s a round-up of who and which shows are skipping the event.

Joss Whedon

For the second time in 20 years, the man who gave us Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the two Avengers films isn’t attending the SDCC. It’s a shame Whedon won’t make it to the convention, but his decision makes sense as Justice League is at a critical juncture at the moment. As previously reported, Whedon just took over Zack Snyder in the director’s chair following the latter’s exit over a family tragedy.

Star Wars

The popular space-opera franchise won’t be gracing the event as well. Lucasfilm will be at the Comic-Con but as its spokesperson said, its presence at SDCC 2017 “will be focused on our booth on the convention floor,” so there will be no trailer reveals, no director and cast panels.

But there’s a silver lining to this news. The week before Comic-Con is Disney’s D23 Expo, and there will likely be some kind of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Han Solo reveals happening there.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

Marvel is definitely holding various movie and television panels in the show’s infamous Hall H, but the cast and crew for Agents of SHIELD won’t be there. It’s unknown why the series decided to take the year off, but Comicbook thinks they are gearing up for their fifth season which will debut this coming Winter.

Thor, Black Panther, Avengers, Blade Runner 2049, and the entire DC Films division of the DCEU are also absent from the SDCC 2017 schedule. The first two Marvel films are listed, but not scheduled, per TVOverMind.  As for other feature films, important upcoming ones like Kingsman, and Atomic Blonde have not been confirmed yet.

SDCC 2017 will be held at the San Diego Convention Center on July 20 to 23. The final list of panels is expected to be released as late as July 9.
